Commissioned for Neva Pilgrim and the Society for New Music summer music series, Cazenovia Counterpoint
Completed in July, this piece was commissioned by Neva Pilgrim and the Society for New Music for their annual presentation of their Cazenovia Counterpoint summer music series. The piece was written and designed around the idea of a dance, the Ruchenitsa, a Bulgarian dance in 7/8, usually divided 2-2-3. The scheme was to not to create a fleshed out dance form but to refer to it so as to be evocative of that ethos. This work is also part of a suite of several movements entitled Earthe Dances.
